Rotogravure printing machine, also known as gravure printing machine, is a machine used for high-quality, high-speed printing, mainly used in mass-produced magazines, packaging and other high-demand products.

1. Working Principle

Inking: The cylinder rotates and dips into the ink tank. The ink fills the grooves engraved with the image. At this time, the excess ink is scraped off by a scraper called a "doctor knife" to ensure that only the ink in the grooves remains on the surface of the cylinder.

Printing: The cylinder rotates and transfers the ink to the treated paper or other substrate through pressure. Due to the continuous rotation of the cylinder, the printing process can be very fast and continuous.

Intaglio cylinder: This is the core component of Rotogravure printing, usually made of copper and plated with a layer of chrome on the surface for increased durability. The surface of the cylinder is engraved with tiny grooves, and the depth and size of these grooves directly affect the quality and detail of the printed image.

Doctor knife: This is a metal blade used to scrape off excess ink from the surface of the cylinder. Precise adjustment of the doctor knife is essential to ensure clear images and uniform colors.

Ink trough: The ink trough is used to hold the printing ink, ensuring that the cylinder can be evenly immersed in ink during rotation.

Pressure roller: It is used to transfer ink from the cylinder to paper or other substrates. The uniform distribution of pressure is very important to maintain printing quality.
